Walk down the ailes of any grocery store and observe all the food that sits waiting for your hands. Waiting to be picked up and taken home. Waiting to be picked up, only to find itself sitting in your belly. Food. It's essential. It's everywhere. It's necessary. Yet, what are we really eating and how did it get there? Is it really "pure," or did it go through a particular process before you could purchase it for consumption sake? These are the questions one should address when seeking to eat not only healthily but consciously.

For this episode we were joined with guest host Zach Sopolsky, a professor at CUNY Baruch, as well as Jeffery Kevin Raymon, a chef at Organique Cafe & Restaurant, located on 23rd street between Lexington and Park Ave. Unlike many people who tire themselves through the sometimes morbid process of looking for a job, this job was OFFERED to Jeffrey. Not only has he studied in the states but he has also studied in Greece, France and Germany. He has been working at Organique since it's opening. When discussing organic foods he emphasized how incredibly important it is that our bodies remain pure by consuming things with the least amount of chemicals. Regarding a lot of food that is pumped up with hormones and chemicals to keep it as "fresh,"as possible, we don't really know the long-term effects of these things on our bodies. But does it really take years of science to figure out that something that what isn't natural, probably shouldn't be ingested. "Our bodies are not meant to process all of these hormones," said Jeffrey, when asked why should organic foods be considered as alternative. Through our discussion we find that the oddest thing is that, isn't it interesting (or maybe even sick,) that healthy living is considered secondary? Granted, not everyone can afford an organic diet or even a healthy one. There are reasons why certain fast-food chains are popular amongst people with a smaller income, but for those who can afford to take care of themselves, and claim that they want to, why not make it what it's suppose to be? A top priority. Organic foods are not just some type of fad diet. Organic foods are meant to be kept the way they were since first being picked or first being killed. They're created and protected by law so that you know that when you're eating a carrot, that you're really eating JUST a carrot. And that when you're eating a piece of chicken, that's it's really just a piece of chicken.
Seriously.
Think about it.
Your health depends on it(!)
